A Finnish backstory

Built in the 1980s by a Finnish family, the handcrafted solid cedar log cabins are the original "Scandi tiny home". They are a true mökki, or Finnish summer cottage, where Finnish families go to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of their environment. The property was named Lappi because it reminded the family of Lapland, in their home country of Finland, and they positioned the cabins perfectly for privacy and to take in the incredible views over the Snowy River and the farmlands of the Monaro Plains.

Today, some 40 years later, Lappi Farm is still providing that same experience for its guests.

So what to expect?

Every season is different: amazing days on the river in summer, the earthy tones as the leaves change in autumn, a winter landscape blanketed in pure white frost, or the explosion of wildflowers in spring. You can always be sure that nature provides at Lappi Farm.

The heart of the farm is the Snowy River, which carves its way through the property as the melted snow journeys out to sea. Explore the farm's river trail, stumble across an echidna or spot a shy platypus, and immerse yourself in wild swimming in pure isolation. Finnish wood-fired sauna

Dating back thousands of years and recognised by UNESCO as part of Finland's intangible cultural heritage, the sauna is at the heart of Finnish life. Lappi Farm's traditional cedar wood-fired sauna, on the bank of the crystal-clear Snowy River, calls back to these roots. The cycle of löyly in 80-plus-degree heat and dips in the cool, clear river is a wonderful way to relax tired muscles and let go of stress, and it can be enjoyed by all Lappi Farm guests.
