A Finnish Backstory.

Built in the 80's by a Finnish family, the handcrafted solid cedar log cabins are the original 'Scandi tiny home'. They are a true "Mökki" or Finnish Summer cottage, where Finnish families go to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of their environment. The property was named Lappi as it reminded the family of Lapland, in their home country of Finland, and they positioned the cabins perfectly for privacy and to take in the incredible views over the Snowy River and farmlands of the Monaro Plains.

Today, some 40 years later, Lappi Farm is still providing that same experience for it's guests.

So what to expect?

Every season is different, from amazing days on the river in Summer, the earthy tones as the leaves change in Autumn, a Winter landscape blanketed in pure white frost, or the explosion of wildflowers in Spring, you can always be sure that nature provides at Lappi Farm. The heart of the farm is the Snowy River, which carves its way through the property as the melted snow journeys out to sea. Explore the farms River Trail, stumble across an echidna or spot shy platypus, & immerse yourself with wild swimming in pure isolation, The sunsets, a billion stars at night, the birdcalls at sunrise, the sound of the river flowing on rocks, it is all a feast for the senses and reset for the soul.

Recognised as an intangible part of the Finnish culture and dating as far back as 7000BC, The Finnish sauna is a substantial part of the Finnish culture. Lappi Farm's traditional cedar woodfired sauna on the bank of the crystal clear Snowy River calls back to these roots. The cycle of löylys in 80+ degree heat and immersions in the cool crystal clear river provides a range of health benefits from muscle relaxation, relieving stress and improving circulation and more, and can be enjoyed by all Lappi Farm guests.
